Caribbean oil spill spreads from Tobago to Bonaire

Oil from a spill off of the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago is approaching the island of Bonaire, threatening mangrove, fish and coral ecosystems. The oil was first spotted by the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard on Feb. 7 and traced to an abandoned barge lodged on a reef about 500 feet off of Tobago’s southern coast. Host Marco Werman speaks with Judith Gobin, a professor of marine biology at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, about what’s at risk as the oil spreads to other islands.
