Astronomers discover what may be the brightest object in the universe

An Australian-led team of astronomers may have found the brightest object in the universe. It’s a quasar, which shines 500 trillion times brighter than our sun with a voracious black hole that powers it. Host Carolyn Beeler puts this intergalactic discovery into language we can all understand with Priyamvada Natarajan, an astrophysicist at Yale University who specializes in mapping dark matter and dark energy.
