In shift, Biden administration announces support for waiving COVID-19 patents

The Biden administration announced this afternoon that it supports waiving intellectual property protections for COVID-19 vaccines. The idea is that this would allow drug companies in other countries to produce vaccines using the technology developed by American pharmaceutical giants.
