Vaccine access in Africa 

The people helping manage vaccine shortages and rising cases of the coronavirus in populations across African countries are some of the best equipped for responding to infectious diseases and the current pandemic. But the continent is now facing a second wave of the coronavirus, and new variants, which could be more threatening. Another big challenge: very few vaccines so far have reached Africa. Host Marco Werman speaks with Dr. Ahmed Ogwell Ouma, deputy director of the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about these challenges, and his group’s recent deal to secure hundreds of millions of vaccines.
