An artist acknowledges Portugal’s role in slavery

For centuries, there has been little acknowledgment of Portugal’s role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Epic depictions of Portugal’s seafaring past are presented all over the country, but there has never been a single memorial or monument in Portugal acknowledging its role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade — until now. Host Marco Werman speaks with Angolan contemporary artist, Kiluanji Kia Henda, who recently designed such a memorial in Lisbon.
