Last week, the first COVAX vaccine doses were distributed to the West African country of Ghana. Ghana’s president, Nana Akufo-Addo, became the world’s first recipient of the coronavirus vaccine through the COVAX program. COVAX is a worldwide vaccine-sharing initiative led by the WHO to help prevent poorer countries from falling behind on immunization efforts.
