Pandemic likely to bring major mental health crisis

A new study from the consulting firm Deloitte predicts an “explosive” increase in mental illness in Canada because of the pandemic. Its forecast is based on what happened after wildfires forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes in Fort McMurray, Alberta, in 2016. In that case, doctor visits for mental health issues and prescriptions for antidepressants skyrocketed and haven’t fallen since. Reporter Anita Elash has the story.
