Civilians in Lebanon’s capital have little trust in their government, so they’re launching grassroots efforts to recover after this week’s massive explosion. Rabih Shibli directs a relief project at Beirut’s Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service. Shibli tells The World’s Marco Werman he’s organizing an outpouring of volunteers, ready to sweep glass, clear rubble and hang doors.
