Puerto Rican voters are a growing force in US politics

Approximately 32 million Latinos will be eligible to vote in this year’s US election in November. Close to 4 million of those eligible voters are of Puerto Rican descent — and that number continues to grow.  After Hurricane Maria, many Puerto Ricans relocated to the US, the majority settling in states such as Pennsylvania and Florida. But many Puerto Ricans don’t necessarily think their vote matters. The World’s Daisy Contreras explains how the Puerto Rican vote could become a defining vote in some states and what some grassroots organizations are doing to get the community involved.
