He’s widely known as “Europe’s last dictator,” although Russian President Vladimir Putin can now challenge that title. A change in power in Belarus is highly unlikely, but over the past couple of months, the country has seen an unrepresented wave of protest and discontent. Now, as Belarus gears up for presidential elections on Aug. 9, an all-female opposition coalition has formed, and they’re trying to challenge the 26-year rule of Lukashenko.
