A month ago, it seemed that Egypt was pretty much in control of the coronavirus, but following a sharp spike in new cases, it now has the most COVID-19-related deaths in Africa. While doctors and journalists warn of a collapse of Egypt’s health care system, the government is cracking down hard and trying to muzzle any criticism.
