Sweden’s lax rules are not working

Last week The World heard from Swedish epidemiologist Johan Giesecke, who told us his country’s lax restrictions toward containing the spread of the coronavirus were working. Many of his colleagues disagreed with this laissez-faire approach, and the country saw a dramatic increase in deaths over the weekend. Sweden’s death toll is greater than the combined deaths from their Nordic neighbors, where lockdowns have been in place for weeks. Marco Werman has an update.
