Drug trials and potential treatment options

The World

US President Donald Trump yesterday made several false statements regarding progress in the fight against COVID-19. Among them was a claim that an anti-malaria drug had been approved for use. It has not. It is going to be tested in a clinical trial, along with other drugs. The president also misspoke about patients’ “right to try” new drugs, and potential compassionate use in otherwise hopeless cases. Host Marco Werman tries to clear things up by speaking with bioethicist, Arthur Caplan of New York University.
