This month in Mozambique, the US laid out its plans to significantly increase business investment in low- and middle-income countries in Africa. The project doubles down on the idea that US relationships with African countries should be based in “trade not aid.” But it’s also an attempt to counter China’s deepening influence on the continent. The World’s Carol Hills talked with Aubrey Hruby, of the Atlantic Council’s Africa Center, about why the US is investing more than ever in Africa.
