The Indonesian government is restricting foreign aid workers from helping with disaster relief efforts in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake and tsunami two weeks ago. Yenni Suryani with Catholic Relief Services tells The World’s Carol Hills that the new rules have local aid workers and NGOs overstretched. We also hear from Jonathan Katz, author of “The Big Truck That Went By: How the World Came to Save Haiti and Left Behind a Disaster” about why the Indonesian government is taking this step, and how other governments have regulated foreign aid work following past natural disasters.
