The Middle East attempts to build snowmen (PHOTOS)

It has snowed in Cairo for the first time in a century. The streets are empty. But the snowmen have risen.
In Israel too it snowed, which happens so infrequently that even a few centimeters brought forth the aid of the Israeli Defence Forces. Malls, supermarkets, and the main highway between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv are all closed. There have been electrical outages. Here, too, the snowmen have risen.
In Jordan, Lebanon and Syria — which have long been home to small populations of snowmen — have seen unprecedented activity in recent days.
