White House Christmas tree arrives (VIDEO)

Thanksgiving leftovers are still stacked up the fridge, but the Obamas have already crossed off a major item on their holiday season to-do list – bringing home the Christmas tree.

Of course, they didn’t have to schlep to the nearest Christmas tree farm to search for the perfect 19-foot fir for the White House Blue Room. Some nice men wearing top hats delivered a tree to their front door in a carriage pulled by two Clydesdale horses today, the Hill reported. The tree was cut down last week at Peak Farms in Jefferson, NC.

First Lady Michelle Obama, daughters Malia and Sasha and dog Bo – who was somewhat wary of the horses – came out to the driveway to greet the tree when it arrived, the New York Daily News reported.

“I think we’ll take it. Do you agree?” the first lady asked her daughters, according to the New York Daily News.\

“I agree,” Malia said.

“It’s a go – we’re good,” Obama said. “We can have Christmas now!”

The US Capitol is scheduled to get its Christmas tree, which hails from the White River National Forest in Colorado, on Monday, the Hill reported.

The Rockefeller Center tree arrived in New York City on Nov. 14 and will be lit for the first time on Nov. 28.
