Katie Holmes makes Broadway return in ‘Dead Accounts’ after divorcing Tom Cruise

In her first post-Tom role, Katie Holmes will return to Broadway in the new family comedy “Dead Accounts,” directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien.

Holmes, who filed for divorce from Tom Cruise last month, will play Lorna in Theresa Rebeck’s new five-character stage production about a family thrown into turmoil by the unexpected return of a relative, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The former star of teen soap opera “Dawson’s Creek” made her Broadway debut in 2008 when she starred in a revival of Arthur Miller’s “All My Sons” as the love interest Ann, the Associated Press reported.

Holmes, 33, has been living in New York since splitting from Cruise. She has been spotted around town with her six-year-old daughter Suri.

The New York Times sought an interview with Holmes on Thursday, but received a brief statement instead.

“I am thrilled to be coming back to the Broadway community and honored to be a part of this team,” Holmes said.

Holmes’ high-profile divorce from Cruise is sure to generate bucket loads of publicity for the play and put more bums on seats.

According to the BBC, production dates and the rest of the cast have yet to be announced.
