It was reported that the man told his family the child was born dead and even had a quick funeral service for her with family members just after the birth.
The Associated Press reported that the baby began crying during the service, at which point, the man, identified as Chand Khan, left the service and buried the girl alive.
Police were notified by local residents who saw the father of four taking his newborn to the graveyard.
The mother was still in hospital when the burial occured.
If convicted, the man could face the death penalty for the crime.
