After scoring some big victories in the US in 2014, the movement to get institutions to cut their ties to fossil fuel companies is broadening its focus in the UK to include big name museums and even toy companies.
Ostensibly for their own protection, women in India often travel in sex-segregated compartments or seating areas, as well as in special "ladies only" taxis. A designer in Mumbai has kitted out a taxi with special rules "only for men."
"These statues look like they're made to be toppled," says historian Adrian Tinniswood. "They're statements of liberation but they represent a failure of confidence — where are the African designers and African sculptors who'd be better representing African consciousness?"
