7 people confirmed dead in Shoreham Airshow plane crash

Seven people have died after a Hawker Hunter jet crashed into several vehicles during the Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex, England.

The plane, which had just begun its flying display, crashed into several cars on the A27, a major road that runs past the Shoreham Airport. Here is a video of the crash.

Sussex Police confirm seven people are dead, one more person suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to the hospital.

An additional 14 people were injured, according to The Telegraph.

Eyewitnesses said the plane was performing a loop but did not complete the maneuver and crashed, according to the BBC.

Stephen Jones saw the crash. "He'd gone up into a loop and as he was coming out of the loop I just thought, you're too low, you're too low, pull up. And he flew straight into the ground," Jones told BBC.

Onlookers saw two fireballs followed by thick columns of smoke billowing into the sky.

The Hawker Hunter was a single-seat jet used as a fighter and a bomber in the Royal Armed Forces in the 1950s and '60s. 

The BBC reports that this is the second incident to befall the Shoreham Airshow in recent years.
