The march in the video above was designed to inspire patriotism, a kind of national pride in technical prowess.
It's an anthem pointing to an achievement in innovation in China's ability to "secure" the Internet. At least that seems to be the idea of the Cyberspace Administration of China, the government agency in charge of Internet policies in the country.
The song is titled "The Mind and Spirit of Cyberspace Security."
But lets read between the lines here.
This rousing anthem was written to celebrate China's recent moves to tighten its controls on the Internet — to improve the so-called "Great Firewall".
Here's just a sampling of those lyrics:
"With loyalty and devotion, we watch over our domain day and night, to serve our mission as the sun rises in the east"
And later in the verse:
"Unifying the strength of all living things, contributing to the global village, evolving it into its most beautiful form."
The lyrics were written by Wang Pingjiu, who also wrote the lyrics for the opening song to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
There's something of a revolutionary Jean Valjean thing in the song.
But, instead of a revolution for freedom, it's a celebration of the Chinese government's efforts to remove anything it doesn't like online.
A revolution indeed.
