A few tenacious black South African women have found good jobs in construction. But they're still a tiny minority of those in the trade.

Women have always worked hard in South Africa. But the post-apartheid dream of affirmative action for better-paying fields has been hard to realize.

Huge wage disparities still trouble the country — wage disparities among races and between the sexes. A recent survey shows women struggling across the board to earn wages equal to men. Here's how it looks in graph form:
