A concept like recursive triangle subdivision might be intimidating if you don’t hold a math degree, but visual artist and creative programmer Raven Kwok makes it look beautiful.
Kwok takes the mathematical theory and uses a computer language called Processingto create “algorithmic creatures” that move, shift, and morph in a mesmerizing dance. Nothing is drawn — the animation in 1194D is generated entirely through code:
Born in China, Kwok started out as a self-taught animator and programmer. He’s currently finishing up his Masters degree in Electronic Arts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. You can see more of his work here.
