Ex-San Diego Mayor Bob Filner sentenced to 3 mths home confinement

Ex-San Diego Mayor Bob Filner’s stunning fall from grace is complete.

A judge on Monday sentenced the 71-year-old to three months home confinement and three years of probation for harassing women while he served as mayor.

Filner pleaded guilty in October to one felony charge of false imprisonment and two misdemeanor charges of battery involving three women.

The offenses happened within six months of Filner being elected to lead the city in November 2012 after serving 10 terms in Congress.

He resigned from the mayor’s office in August amid widespread accusations of sexual harassment.

Nealry 20 women came forward to accuse Filner of inappropriately touching them or making unwanted sexual advances during his political career.

Superior Court Judge Robert Trentacosta prohibited Filner from seeking public office during the term of his probation, and ordered him to seek mental health treatment and sacrifice part of his pension.

“I want to apologize to my family who have stood by me through this ordeal, to my loyal staff and supporters, to the citizens of San Diego and, most sincerely, to the women who I have hurt and offended," Filner told the court on Monday.

"To all of you I make the same promise that I made to my family, to earn back your trust and my integrity no matter how long it takes and what I have to do."

None of his victims were in the court.

Filner escaped jail time after striking a plea deal with prosecutors, which bans the former Democratic superstar from ever seeking or holding public office.
