Ten in hospital after Southern California bus crash

A tour bus ferrying eighteen passengers from Los Angeles to a San Diego casino crashed on Sunday evening, sending ten people to the hospital. 

The 58-year-old driver and nine passengers were sent for medical treatment after the bus crashed into trees south of Temecula at around 10:50 PM, causing minor injuries.

"While traveling southbound on Pala Temecula Road, near Aruba Road, the driver stated that he experienced brake failure on the bus," said California Highway Patrol public information officer Jim Bettencourt to the Fallbrook Bonsall Village News.

"The bus was unable to stop while entering a curve in the roadway and collided into a metal guard rail on the east side of the road."

The driver of the vehicles said that the crash was due to a brake problem, writes NBC Los Angeles, which noted the worst injury sustained by the passengers was a cut to the head. 

Drugs and alcohol don't seem to be involved, writes the Los Angeles Times, although the CHP will continue to investigate the incident. 

This story ended relatively happily, but an August 22 bus crash in Los Angeles injured fifty people after the vehicle overturned. Most of the victims were elderly. 

A worse incident occurred on February 4th of this year, when a tour bus headed to Mexico from Los Angeles rear-ended a sedan and flipped over, killing at least eight.
