Nicola Peate dislocates jaw biting into giant ‘Kids in America’ burger

A British woman bit off more than she could chew while attempting to eat a three-patty "Kids in America" burger at a restaurant in Liverpool.

The burger at Almost Famous Burgers & Booze, also topped with pretzels and candied bacon, left 25-year-old social media manager Nicola Peate with a dislocated jaw.

Her jaw locked up and then popped out of place while trying to get her mouth around the monstrosity.

Peate tried to laugh off the injury. Her fiance finished the Kids in America burger for her and they left the restaurant, but the pain became unbearable for Peate at work the next morning.

"It felt like I had cramp in my tongue, then I started to get an ear ache and a headache. The next morning I woke up and felt really, really ill. The whole side of my head was hurting.

"Then it started to feel like it was in my jaw and I knew I'd dislocated it," she told the UK Press Association.

Turns out, Peate has what's known as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a condition that leaves her with hyper-flexible joints that are prone to dislocation.

A doctor at Royal Liverpool University Hospital pushed her jaw back into place with his thumbs.

Peate, who is getting married next year, told the Press Association she'll stick with "canape-sized burgers" on her wedding day.
