NEW YORK, NY — NBC News announced today a partnership with GlobalPost, an award-winning international news website with a network of credentialed journalists around the world.

As part of the agreement, NBC News and MSNBC will have access to GlobalPost's correspondents, as well as digital video and written reports, to use across its digital platforms such as NBCNews.com and msnbc.com, as well as to supplement NBC’s on-air coverage beyond its own international bureaus. Reports commissioned by NBC will be exclusive to the network.

Based in Boston, GlobalPost’s core strength is its roster of talented correspondents, writers, photographers and videographers around the world. The site features original reporting from 13 senior correspondents, who work full-time for GlobalPost from key cities, and reports from a vast network of other experienced freelance journalists. GlobalPost focuses its reporting on important strategic, business, political and social trends and features a diverse array of distinctive stories and video about interesting people and events. It has received a number of prestigious journalism awards for its work, including a Peabody Award and a Polk Award.

"When it comes to international reporting, having reporters who are native to the area, who understand the local culture, politics and people is essential," said David Verdi, SVP of NBC News Worldwide Newsgathering. "Our team of international correspondents is already incredibly strong, and with this partnership, GlobalPost will help us expand our global presence, enable us to offer a wider breadth of front-line stories, and further differentiate our international coverage on-air and online."

“In just a few short years, GlobalPost has become a powerful digital home to some of the best reporting from around the world. They are just the kind of digital-native organization that the NBC News Digital Group wants to do business with, and we look forward to working together on stories and featuring their content on our platforms,” said Vivian Schiller, SVP & Chief Digital Officer at NBC News.

“When you get the opportunity to work with a world-class news organization and a powerhouse digital brand the caliber of NBC News, you jump at it,” said GlobalPost co-founder, President and CEO Philip S. Balboni. “We are excited to work with them to deliver authentic, on-the-ground coverage of international news to a wide audience at a time when a deeper understanding of world events is critically important to our own national discussion.”
