President Obama is visiting an Amazon warehouse in Chattanooga, Tenn. to talk about job growth, as part of his reshifting of focus on the economy.
Amazon made a big announcement yesterday, in anticipation of the visit. The internet retailer announced it will be adding 7000 jobs nationwide: 5000 warehouse jobs, and 2000 customer service positions.
The company has been expanding rapidly, according to investor reports, between 2008 and 2012, Amazon more than quadrupled its labor force, from 20,700 to 88,400 full- and part-time employees. That’s despite the Great Recession.
