At least one dead, 12 injured in rubble of Philadelphia building collapse

At least one person is dead and 12 are injured after two buildings collapsed in Philadelphia.
One victim was rescued some three hours after the building collapsed. It’s not yet known if she’s one of the dead. The building collapsed about 10:45 a.m. ET
The search will continue for the next 12 to 24 hours, officials said at a 2:30 p.m. press conference.
One of the buildings that collapsed was, according to The New York Times, a Salvation Army thrift shop.
It’s believed the collapse may have related to demolition going on at an adjoining building. According to Philly.com, the project has updated permits, issued in February.
The Times said rubble from the construction project may have fallen on the Salvation Army, as well as attached row houses, triggering the collapse.
Eyewitnesses to the accident described hearing the moaning of victims after the building collapsed, trapped beneath wood and bricks. Several passers-by helped pull victims from the site of the accident before first responders arrived.
A previous version of this story, citing official reports, incorrectly stated that two people were dead.
