Ten schoolchidren dead in Afghanistan suicide blast

A suicide bomber killed 13 people on Monday, including 10 schoolchildren in eastern Afghanistan.
The bomber targeted an American military delegation in the Samkani district where local schoolchildren had just been let out of classes.
The dead children ranged in age from 10 to 16 years-old, while 15 others were wounded.
Two Americans were killed in the attack but it is unclear if they were soldiers or other military officials.
One police officer was reportedly killed.

The bomber was on a motorcycle and detonated his explosives while the delegation went past.
The recent spate of suicide attacks can be seen as a major test for Afghan forces as NATO troops begin to withdraw their forces.
NATO troops are expected to draw down the bulk of their forces by next year.
Seven other Afghan civilians, including two children were killed on Monday when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb.
They were said to have gone to collect firewood when they ran over the explosive device.
