Andrew Moran, one of Britain's most wanted fugitives, was arrested Sunday in Spain.

Moran, 31, has been on the run since he escaped during his February 2009 trial for the armed robbery of Royal Mail guards in 2005.

He was put on Britain's Serious Organized Crime Agency's (SOCA) "most wanted" list after he assaulted four security guards and fled from his Burnley Crown Court hearing, BBC News reported

Moran was caught by police in the Costa Blanca resort town of Calpe, where he was hiding out in a private villa.

Police found two handguns as well as ammunition in the villa.

The Spanish police statement describes him "a dangerous fugitive" and said that Moran "again attempted to flee and violently resisted the officers."

He has evaded police Spanish police once, in a car chase last November.

The statement did not give further details about his apprehension.

"Extradition proceedings are now under way," Detective Janet Hudson, of SOCA, said in a statement. "It just goes to show that we will stop at nothing to capture criminals wherever they are in the world."
