Mexico: 10 members of Mexican band La Reyna de Monterrey killed in car crash

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Fatigue has been blamed for a horrific traffic accident in northern Mexico on Saturday morning that left 10 musicians dead and five others injured.

Police believe the driver of the vehicle carrying members of Mexican Banda music group La Reyna de Monterrey fell asleep at the wheel around 8 a.m. local time. The vehicle crossed into the other lane where it crashed head on with a tractor-trailer.

The force of the impact threw band members from the vehicle onto the highway connecting Monterrey and Nuevo Laredo.

The band members, aged between 20 and 25, had given a concert in the border city of Nuevo Laredo in Tamaulipas state on Friday night.

In their last posting on Facebook, the band thanked their fans for a great concert.
