Texans have long been known for their distinct state pride. Yell out the “the stars at night, are big and bright…” and you know a bunch of Texans will finish the call and response with a loud “deep in the heart of Texas.”
Whether it’s the capitol city of Austin or small towns like Marfa, Texans love their state. And they have even more reason to love their state now. For the fourth year in a row, Houston has been ranked the number one place Americans are relocating to. This is based on findings from UHaul. Based on their numbers, more people are renting one-way vans to Houston than any other place in the country.
What makes the sprawling city of Houston so special? We decided to ask two people who’ve moved there in the past few months.
Taylor Brown moved to Houston in the fall of 2012 from Provincetown, Massachusetts for a job with an energy company.
Leslie Fisher also moved to Houston in 2012, for a job with the federal government. Prior to Houston, she was living in Cincinnati.
