Desisa, Jeptoo win 2013 Boston Marathon

An Ethiopian and a Kenyan claimed victory in today's 117th edition of the Boston Marathon.

In only his second race at the 26.2 mile distance, Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia won the men's race with a time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, 23 seconds.

Kenya's Rita Jeptoo, 32, claimed her second Boston Marathon title in the women's race.

Her time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, 10 seconds was her first major victory since taking two years off to have a baby, according to The Associated Press.

Kenyans and Ethiopians have won the men's race 23 times in the past 25 years, according to WCVB.

On the women's side, they have won 15 of the last 17 titles.
