MTV cancels ‘Buckwild’ after reality star’s death

MTV has canceled the reality series “Buckwild'’ following last week's death of one of its cast members.

21-year-old Shain Gandee, along with two others, died on April 1 from carbon monoxide poisoning after Gandee's truck got stuck in a mud pit in Sissonville, a rural town in West Virginia.

The accident was unrelated to the show but was a common practice on the reality series.

Following the accident, the network immediately stopped production on its second season, the New York Times reported.

"We love the cast and the show and this was not an easy decision, but given Shain's tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him," MTV said in a statement.

The network will run a special show on Sunday “Buckwild: WV to the NYC,'’ and a tribute the next day – during a rerun of the first season.
