Las Vegas Strip triple-murder suspect Ammar Harris arrested

Police have arrested Ammar Harris over the pre-dawn shooting of three people on the Las Vegas Strip last wee, the Las Vegas Sun reported Thursday.

The 26-year-old self-professed pimp was arrested in North Hollywood on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.

Harris was allegedly driving a black Range Rover when he opened fire on the silver Maserati being driven by aspiring rapper Kenneth Wayne Cherry Jr last Thursday.

Cherry was killed and his car veered into a taxi which exploded into flames, killing the driver and a passenger.

"We can confirm that the LAPD-FBI task force arrested a fugitive from Las Vegas wanted by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department," Los Angeles police spokesman Lieutenant Andy Neiman was quoted by Reuters as saying.

Neiman identified the suspect as Harris and said he had a long criminal record, including arrests for robbery, sexual assault, kidnapping and soliciting prostitution.

Police believe the dramatic shooting may have been sparked by an argument in the valet area of a Las Vegas Strip resort.
