Ford signs deal with Spotify to allow in-car music streaming
Ford drivers will be able to access Spotify’s catalog of more than 20 million songs.
Owners of Ford models with the automaker’s Sync AppLink will soon be able to access streaming music service Spotify without taking their hands off the wheel.
Ford and Spotify, the world’s largest music subscription service, announced the deal on Monday at the Mobile World Congress on Barcelona, Reuters reported.
It marks the first time Spotify has teamed up with a carmaker.
According to Bloomberg, Spotify subscribers in the United States, Europe and Australia will soon be able to access the service’s catalog of more than 20 million songs through Sync’s voice command system while driving their cars.
Users will be to listen to their Spotify songs, playlists and radio stations through their car’s entertainment system by simply saying something, Bloomberg said, citing Pascal de Mul, Spotify’s global head of hardware partnerships.
The Ford EcoSport will be the first car to offer the “hands-free experience,” according to PC Mag.
Ford has already partnered with another streaming music service, Pandora radio, the Financial Times reported.
