A plane crash in Ukraine's Donetsk late Wednesday has killed at least at least four people, according to SKY News.

Donetsk official Andriy Shyshatsky said most of the passengers survived but "there are four dead," adding that recovery efforts are ongoing.

"One person is visible in the wreckage, but we don't yet know whether he is alive or not," SKY cited Shyshatsky as saying. "We are searching for one other person."

Russia's Interfax news agency initially said at least two were killed, according to Reuters.

Local reports said many passengers were believed to be soccer fans, with UEFA Champions League game between Germany's Borussia Dortmund and Ukraine's Donetsk Shakhtar scheduled to start a few hours later, reported NBC Sports.

CNN's Eldergill said Russia's RIA Novosti had described a plane packed with football fans.

The plane reportedly missed the runway during an emergency landing in heavy fog, according to emergency ministry officials cited by Reuters

Donetsk is located in Ukraine's southeast, near the Black Sea city of Odessa.
