Update: Caleb Moore has died due to his injuries. Please find our complete story here.

Thursday was a lousy night for guys named Moore.

Caleb Moore is recovering from heart surgery today while his brother, Colten, is relieved he won’t need surgery to repair his dislocated pelvis after both crashed during the snowmobile competition at the Winter X Games on Thursday night in Aspen, Colo.

Caleb, 23, crashed when the runners on his sled caught the hill. The snow machine rolled over him, but he was able to leave the venue (with some help).

“While Caleb was being evaluated late last night, he developed bleeding around the heart and was urgently (flown) to Grand Junction (Colo.),” an X Games statement issued today said.

“He underwent surgery this morning. The procedure went well, and Caleb is currently in ICU with a heart contusion.”

Colten, 25, also crashed that night and spent a night in hospital, NBC Sports said.

Both are medal winners at the event, with Colten winning gold and his brother bronze last year, according to Reuters.

“I feel terrible about the accidents that happened,” said Levi LaVallee, the eventual winner.

“But I’m happy I put down a solid run and came out on top to win gold again. It’s like, ‘Pinch me. Is this for real?’”
