7 people injured after crane collapses in Queens, New York City
A crane collapsed on a construction site in Queens, New York City, on Wednesday afternoon.
A 200-foot crane collapsed on a construction site in the New York City borough of Queens on Wednesday afternoon, injured seven people, the Associated Press reported.
Three of the injured are in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Reuters reported the crane fell over at 2:30 p.m. Deputy Fire Chief Mark Ferran told the AP that three people had to be rescued from underneath the crane.
According to the New York Daily News, the crane is owned by New York Crane.
New York Crane owner James Lomma “was acquitted of criminally negligent homicide charges stemming from the 2008 crane collapse on the Upper East Side that killed two construction workers,” the NY Daily News said.
Investigators are trying to determine how the crane collapsed.
