Ukraine university blast kills 1, injures 2

A 62-year-old man was killed and two others were injured Thursday in a blast at a medical university in Ukraine.

According to CNN, the man who was killed was not on staff at the university in the city of Chernivtsy, but brought an explosive into an office. Police think he might have had a dispute with a university employee over a piece of land.

"According to preliminary information, the dead person was at odds with a staff member (of the university) over a plot of land ...," the prosecutor's office said in a statement, noted Reuters.

Reuters also reported that investigators were still looking into the possibility the explosion was caused by a bomb, and said it probably involved a hand grenade. The blast also wounded a university teacher and a student, but their lives were not in danger.

Police have cordoned off the area, according to BBC News. The town does not have a history of attacks.
