@SergeantBrody fake ‘Homeland’ tweeter unmasked as comedian Aziz Ansari

Comedian Aziz Ansari's cover has been blown. 

The Parks and Recreation star has been unmasked as the prankster behind the popular fake Homeland Twitter account @SergeantBrody. 

The connection between Ansari and the fake 'Sergeant Brody' was first noticed by the Hollywood Reporter after Ansari accidentally posted a tweet to his personal account that was meant to come from the fake Brody. 

("Oh what the f—! Jess threw out all my CDs!!! Guess all the shit is on Spotify, but still…" )

The message was quickly deleted and reposted to @SergeantBrody but enterprising Twitter-watchers picked up on the mistake. 

Ansari also drew attention by retweeting several posts by the fake Sergeant Brody, including this one making fun of Brody's daughter, Dana, a favorite target:

@SergeantBrody debuted on Oct. 28, and features a mere 27 fake tweets from Homeland's lead character Nick Brody, played by Damian Lewis.

The handle quickly became a hit with nearly 30,000 followers before its final tweet on December 3. The Hollywood Reporter said representatives for Ansari declined comment on his role in the parody.
