Bob Marley drink sickens New Jersey students
A song from late reggae musician Bob Marley is being used to raise funds to raise funds to help the hungry in Somalia’s famine.
A general rule of thumb in America is that if you see a logo of Bob Marley's face on something, there are probably drugs inside. However, no one was expecting to find any unhealthy substances in a Bob Marley relaxation drank for sale at a New Jersey school.
Yet the relaxation drink sickened several students at Satz Middle School, the Daily Record reported. It turns out that the drink had not been approved for sale at the school, and Chartwells School Dining Services is investigating the matter. “We sincerely regret that this product was sold and that students had an adverse reaction to it,” the company said in a statement. “Chartwells takes great pride and care in partnering with our school communities to provide the best school dining experience possible and we take this situation very seriously.”

Marley’s Mellow Mood drink contains ingredients such as valerian root. The drink's website says that the root promotes relaxation and reduces stress. But the drink’s nutrition facts also add that it may cause drowsiness and is not intended for children.
Despite this, the drink was for sale at Satz Middle School and Holmdel High School, Fox News reported. It's unclear what the sick students' symptoms were.
The Mayo Clinic says that valerian root is thought to be fairly safe, but possible side effects could include headache, dizziness and gastrointestinal problems. The Mayo Clinic also warns that the root may cause bad side effects when it interacts with prescription drugs.
