Oprah’s breast cancer scare

Former talkshow queen, Oprah Winfrey, has revealed she thought she had breast cancer.

The New York Times reported the 58-year-old was so concerned she told no one about the tests she was undergoing last month, not even her best friend, Gayle King.

Winfrey made the revelations in front of a group of 5,000 devotees at O Magazine's annual conference in Los Angeles, which was attended by King.

Looking tired and with dark rings under her eyes, she also spoke about her financial worries, including concerns she may shut down O Magazine, which has lost a fifth of sales since her high rating talkshow ended 18 months ago.

The New York Post reported in May that her cable television network OWN has reportedly lost $330 million.

Winfrey told the New York Times at the conference that a 24 per cent slump in advertising sales at O Magazine, from $48.8 million to $34.2 million, meant she had to be realistic and she was not interested in "bleeding money".

"Obviously, the (old) show was helping in ways that you know I hadn't accounted for."
