England Flooding kills two as heavy rain continues (PHOTOS)

Constant heavy rain and flooding in England and Wales killed at least two people as the government issued safety warnings throughout the country.

Last night, on Western War in Exeter, a woman was, according to the Press Association, killed underneath a fallen tree.

On Thursday, a man died after his car became lodged under a bridge in Chew Stoke, Somerset.

Prime Minister David Cameron said he would "ensure everything is being done to help."

The Twitter account of the Prime Minister's office (not his personal account) yesterday retweeted a flood warning from the Environment Agency:

There are currently 52 flood warnings and 159 flood alerts across England & Wales. More rain is forecast. Latest info: bit.ly/WmrWta

The Environment Agency asked people to be prepared and remain watchful:

"We’re urging people to remain vigilant and be prepared for further flooding as more rainfall is forecast," the group said on its website. "Check our flood warnings for the most up to date information for your area. Be prepared – sign up to receive flood warnings if you’re in a flood risk area and stay away from dangerous flood water."

The agency says 816 houses have been affected by flooding. It has also issued 270 flood alerts.

The BBC quoted its correspondent Chris Fawkes who said more rain is expected.

"A weather front was slowly moving across north England and north Wales Sunday night and Monday, and it's here that we are likely to see some further serious flooding."
