Afghanistan: Taliban ‘revenge’ car bomb attack kills at least 3 (VIDEO)

A car bomb attack in Afghanistan's east early today killed at least three people and wounded some 70 others, including some NATO soldiers, according to officials cited by Reuters.

The bomb went off near operation headquarters shared by Afghan and coalition troops in Wardak province, where there is a significant troop presence, senior police official Ahmad Wali told Reuters. 

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told Agence-France Press the assault "was a revenge attack by our mujahed in response to the execution of four mujahedeen by the Kabul administration," referring to the government's execution of four accused Taliban operatives earlier this week. 

Local hospital official Ghulam Farooq Mukhlis said the facility received two people killed by the blast as well "90 wounded, 75 men and 15 women," reported AFP. 

A spokesman for the US-led International Security Assistance Force told Reuters the attack had injured several troops.
