Joe Biden to appear on Parks and Recreation

Leslie Knope is about to have the best day of her life.

The fictional character played by Amy Poehler on the NBC comedy Parks and Recreation will meet one of her political idols in an upcoming episode, that idol being none other than Vice President Joe Biden. Or as President Obama called him in his re-election victory speech, "America's happy warrior."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Biden filmed his cameo in July when the show was in Washington, DC for a different episode featuring Senators John McCain, Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe. Biden reportedly filmed scenes around the nation's capitol.

The New York Times reported that the cameo was kept under lock and key. The show was warned that if Biden's cameo appearance leaked before the election, then provisions might have to be made for Paul Ryan to also appear on the show.

Rolling Stone reported that in the episode Leslie's fiancé Ben (Adam Scott) arranges a meeting with Biden as a surprise engagement present. Biden will appear at the beginning of the episode, in a scene that is less than a minute long.

Getting Biden on the show was much easier than one may think. Executive producer Michael Schur told Rolling Stone, "His staff really loves the show, and he apparently had watched the show with his family and his family liked it."
