Even Obama admits he could have done better during last week's first presidential debate.

The President acknowledged in front of 6,000 supporters at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater that he wasn't exactly as consistent in his performances as the artists who played at Sunday night's fundraiser concert, including Katy Perry, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Earth Wind & Fire and Jon Bon Jovi, according to the Hollywood Reporter

"They just perform flawlessly night after night," he said of the musicians who took the stage before his speech. "I can't always say the same."

The President also acknowledged that even his 2008 victory was not without its setbacks.

"Things always look better in retrospect. But in the middle we made all kinds of mistakes," he said, the Los Angeles Times reported. "We goofed up. I goofed up. But the American people carried us forward. And even with all the things we had going for us, all the way things just kind of converged, 47 percent of the country still didn't vote for me."

Obama is in California on a two-day fundraising jaunt expected to pull in at least $9.5 million for his campaign. After the concert, Obama appeared at a $25,000-per-plate dinner at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant, E! News reported

As the Wall Street Journal pointed out, "Obama’s decision to spend time in a state that’s not in play in the election underscores his aides belief that he’ll need millions more to sustain his re-election effort in the last four weeks of the campaign."

Romney's strong showing during the debate, which focused on domestic issues, has helped close the gap in polls between the GOP candidate and Obama.
