Fiona Apple was arrested for possession of hashish on Wednesday after a Border Patrol drug-sniffing dog smelled pot on her tour bus, the Associated Press reported.

The singer-songwriter spent Wednesday night in jail and was released Thursday on a $10,000 bond, according to Hudspeth County sheriff's office spokesman Rusty Flemming.

TMZ was the first outlet to report the news, and noted that the arrest happened in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg and Armie Hammer have previously been arrested for drug possession.

According to Spin magazine, the recently-back-from-hiatus singer was driving from Mesa, Arizona to the Austin City Limits show at Moody Theater on her Idler Wheel tour when the arrest took place.

Apple's publicist, Ambrosia Healy, told Spin, "My guess is that there won't be any sort of statement given."

Fleming said Apple "had a little tiny amount of pot and hash." While small amounts of marijuana count as a misdemeanor, any quantity of hashish is viewed as a felony in Texas.

The Washington Post pointed out that the media couldn't resist "Criminal" pun-filled reports, at the expense of one of Apple's biggest hits.
